Ahtsik Native Art Gallery: Original Northwest Coast Indian Art

Gallery

Come visit our beautiful Cedar gallery on the Pacific Rim highway heading out of Port Alberni towards Tofino (hwy 4) on Vancouver Island. Ahtsik Native Art Gallery opened December 13th 2008. I am, Gordon Dick, the Artist and Owner of Ahtsik Native Art Gallery. I carved the Kingfisher design of the front entrance as well as the Eagle and Wolf posts that represent my Grandparents. You are welcome to come and see me create original Northwest Coast Art inside the gallery. In warmer months, you can come and see larger Wood projects being carved just outside the gallery, such as a totem pole. I sell many other local First Nations Artists’ Canadian Indian Art work from World Renowned to up and coming. Commissions are accepted.

Biography:

A young artist from the Nlakapamux Nation. His painting style mixes graffiti style with Coast Salish design creating figurative and abstract images that speak to resistance and renewal. His beginning as a graffiti artist is central to his style and since his switch from walls to canvas four years ago he has brought this energy from the streets into his paintings. His work was featured in Kamloops Art Gallery's exhibition Shazam earlier this year and he also had the pleasure doing a solo show titled, "Gratitude" at Vancouver’s Grunt Gallery. His work is also featured at the Native Winds Gallery in Honolulu and has been published in Blood Lines, Redwire, and Brunt Magazine.

'My work relates my spiritual path; my journey. I express the inspiration lovingly given to me through teachings and stories from my elders and mentors. My work embodies the powerful visions that I have been given through these teachings. I am grateful.
My work is a modern expression embodying the symbolic abstract inspired by my home: Coast Salish Territory.'
Nationally renowned senior artist Yuxweluptun Lawrence Paul comments, 'Enpaauk's work is innovative new Northwest Coast style. He has a free way of thinking about young Native people of his generation. His contribution is to his generation is very present and it shows in his creative expression. His work is abstract neo native symbolism.'
