Ahtsik Native Art Gallery: Original Northwest Coast Indian Art

Gallery

Come visit our beautiful Cedar gallery on the Pacific Rim highway heading out of Port Alberni towards Tofino (hwy 4) on Vancouver Island. Ahtsik Native Art Gallery opened December 13th 2008. I am, Gordon Dick, the Artist and Owner of Ahtsik Native Art Gallery. I carved the Kingfisher design of the front entrance as well as the Eagle and Wolf posts that represent my Grandparents. You are welcome to come and see me create original Northwest Coast Art inside the gallery. In warmer months, you can come and see larger Wood projects being carved just outside the gallery, such as a totem pole. I sell many other local First Nations Artists’ Canadian Indian Art work from World Renowned to up and coming. Commissions are accepted.

FOUR WOLF BROTHERS 24 x 18 ADDITON 150.jpg

Wolf Brothers

Price: $150
Description: This original limited edition chee-clay (sp) print was made by the noted Northwest Makah Artist John Goodwin (Nytom). John Goodwin is a renown Northwest Artist who creates his own designs in many different media including exquisitely engraved silver and gold jewelry, glass etching, and wood carving. The Four Wolf Brothers design is a recent design from 2009 and was based on the practice of Federal Indian Agents after the signing of treaties in which they re-named natives with European names. Family members however were often named with different surnames, resulting in having brothers or sisters with different last names. In this case, the Four Wolf Brothers are from the same family but with different names. 21" square. Limited edition Giclee print 15/100. more...

Wolf Woman's Aura

Price: $350
Description: This is a story about Wolf Woman. It is not an ancient story, it is a new story. Wolf woman, born and raised a wolf, had grew up in Nature and was taught to see its profound beauty and abundance. As a child, Wolf Woman grew up in the woods and would play many hours by herself; she would play in the tall grass, walk the old trails, pick berries and plants, and go fishing in the ocean and rivers. As a child, this is where the little wolf felt most safe. Time passed, wolf girl grew up into a woman, moved to the city, got an education and a job. Life was pretty good, Wolf Woman got married and had a little wolf child of her own. Yet, something was missing. Wolf Woman was lonely for something. She went back home to her Wolf Clan. So Wolf Woman and some of her closest friends and cousins decided that they were going to travel by water and return to the sacred sites. Wolf Woman spent many days and nights paddling up the Inlet with her clan. They fished; they shared meals together, told stories and shared songs. This is where Wolf Woman reconnected with the land and water, our Mother Earth. Not only did she discover all of Natures beauty, but she rediscovered that the same beauty and power that exists within Nature, exists within her. She came to remember that she comes from the same Source. This is Wolf Woman’s Aura. --By Candace Campo more...
