Come visit our beautiful Cedar gallery on the Pacific Rim highway heading out of Port Alberni towards Tofino (hwy 4) on Vancouver Island. Ahtsik Native Art Gallery opened December 13th 2008. I am, Gordon Dick, the Artist and Owner of Ahtsik Native Art Gallery. I carved the Kingfisher design of the front entrance as well as the Eagle and Wolf posts that represent my Grandparents. You are welcome to come and see me create original Northwest Coast Art inside the gallery. In warmer months, you can come and see larger Wood projects being carved just outside the gallery, such as a totem pole. I sell many other local First Nations Artists’ Canadian Indian Art work from World Renowned to up and coming. Commissions are accepted.

Description: Carved from Alder burl. The wind woman represents the westerly wind. It can be used as a charm also because it represents good days to come after a nice westerly. She was blowing so hare one day that the people were all excited about good days to come. There were no good days coming and she started blowing harder and harder. Three birds got together, Eagle, Raven and seagull. Eagle and Raven tried to stop her but failed. Eagle couldn't make it to her, Got tired and turned back. Raven went with his bag of tricks to stop her and he lost his bag of tricks and turned back. Raven says "where were you seagull?" " Oh, I was out back carving a plug". Seagull flies by her three or four times and plugs her up. Tells her not to be blowing so hard and she can take it out once in a while to let it gust.
